EV charging

We plan to invest £1 billion in the UK over the next 10 years in electric vehicle charging in the UK, supercharging the roll-out of fast, convenient charging across the country

London EVs get charged
In 2030, the UK will ban the sale of petrol and diesel cars. We're supporting drivers to make the switch ahead of this by running the largest rapid and ultra-fast EV public charging network in the UK - bp pulse - currently operating over 9,000 charging points across the country.
  • We plan to invest £1 billion by 2030 to triple the number of public charging points
  • In 2022, bp pulse powered 150 million miles
  • 69% of the UK population live within 5 miles of a bp pulse rapid or UFC charge point.

bp pulse is the most used public charging network in the UK with over 9,000 public charge points providing ultra-fast and rapid public charging. We offer the public and fleet drivers a comprehensive, flexible and practical range of electric vehicle charging solutions.

We plan to invest £1 billion in UK EV charging infrastructure by 2030, approximately tripling the number of charging points and accelerating the roll out of state-of-the-art ultra-fast charging points, so we can provide drivers with access to our charging points whenever and wherever they are.

Our network is also futureproofed. The latest charging technology we’re putting in the ground today is ready for the EV batteries of the future. bp pulse’s 300kWh charger is one of the fastest chargers being deployed in the UK currently. Ultra-fast charging can already deliver around up to 100 miles of range in around 15 minutes, depending on the vehicle, so that EV drivers can stay charged, even if they can’t charge at home..

Our roll-out of reliable, convenient, ultra-fast charging will see new facilities across the UK come online. That’s going to mean more electric chargers in the locations drivers need them - at motorway service stations, fuel forecourts, hotels, car parks, supermarkets and restaurants. This includes our partnership with M&S, which sees us rolling out 900 ultra-fast and rapid chargers in around 70 M&S stores.

bp pulse is trusted by some of the UK’s leading organisations to provide the charging solutions they need to go further and faster in the transition to all-electric fleets. From Britain’s biggest fleet operator, Royal Mail, to the London Fire Brigade and Network Rail, our fast and reliable destination, on-the-go and home charging is helping more organisations to get from A to B on electricity.

It’s all part of our work to enable individuals and industry to transition to cleaner fuels and support bp and the UK’s shared goal of reaching net zero by 2050
